The Homburg
The Homburg
The Homburg is a formal hard felt hat popularized by the Prince of Wales during the 1890s. Originally developed as an acceptable substitution for the formal top hat, the Homburg provided comfort without compromising socioeconomic status. More recently, Al Pacino wore this hat style in The Godfather.
Characteristics of this hat include a single dent running down the center of a high, tapering crown, a stiff brim shaped in a “kettle curl”, with a pencil roll and bound edge trim. The Homburg has a 2” brim and a 4 ½” crown.
